They can go hand in hand. I've been awake all night because I'm out of my antinarcoleptics that allow me to be awake during the day. Since I slept all day, I'm awake now. Trouble is, the pharmacy is only open during the day.

Happy Friday the 13th! I'm sure most of us have had shades of both, but to have the real deal would be horrible. I chose Insomnia because I think it wouldn't interfere with daily functioning quite as much. If you have true narcolepsy, you can't drive or work, which would really limit your lifestyle.

Since I have insomnia, I have learned to cope with it (sometimes I actually take a nap in the morning). Thus, I voed for insomnia.
I have a standard, 2am bed time . . . If I get to sleep before then I count it as a good thing!

many people "diagnose" themselves with insomnia because they don't get a lot of or they can't fall asleep before a certain time. I honestly do have insomnia (i'm not directing this towards you PPL) and i've had it since i was about 6 or 7. sometimes it's similar to narcolepsy. i'll randomly fall asleep without realizing it when i'm just sitting (once when i was riding a horse T-T needless to say i fell off) or standing somewhere. my doctor says they are mini sleeps (sounds funny i know ^-^) sometimes i feel physical pain but the confusion is the worst (sensory overload)! the longest i've been awake is about 4 1/2 days. i felt like i wanted to kill myself (but i never would) and i just cried all the time and got REALLY agitated over anything... insomnia is HORRIBLE... luckily sleeping pills work... usually (except at "that time of the month" for some reason) but... narcolepsy is more dangerous ^.~

Kiki, you are absolutely right, and I wouldn't have been offended if you had directed your comment at me.
= )
Many people will also say they have a migraine, when in truth they just have a bad headache.
I have very poor sleep habits, and have had for years . . . but it is mostly just that, a habit.

I don't have either, thankfully. Of course I've gone a couple days without sleep before, and I've nodded off in classes, but that's normal. Well, part of me said Narcolepsy, because I like sleeping and more sleep is never a bad thing, but then I started thinking about how it would get in the way with day-to-day life. In the end, I voted insomnia.

PPL - Oh, I know. What I hate is when someone cries and complains that they have a migraine for about three seconds, and then they "forgot" about said migraine one minute later and go about their business as if it had never happened.

I'll be at camp this weekend! Going to Wa-Floy with my youth group.

I consider the hours between 10pm and 2am "me time." It's not that I can't sleep. I choose to spend those hours doing stuff that I want to do and I'm usually better off in the morning for having done so (as opposed to sleeping during that time.)

BTW -- I have never had a headache.

That is all.

Narcolepsy not because I have it but because I have the more benign ability to sleep anytime I can become horizontal. Well, almost anytime. Once I was on a ship that was rocking so hard I couldn't stop rolling back and forth. Everyone on the ship was using those little bags to puke in except me and the Ukrainian crew. I couldn't sleep so I went to the ship's bar to drink vodka and do karaoke with the Ukranians.

Did you know that there are multiple magical rituals that involve Ukranian karaoke and that some of them cure sleep disorders? It's true?

Okay, it isn't. I made it up about thirty seconds ago, but it would be really cool if it were true.

Gia, it IS true but you have to know all the words and hand motions to the Village People's YMCA to perform correctly. Oh yeah, then the boat has to dock for the day (in Sardinia).

I voted for narcolepsy. Then I could just get disability or something and have someone drive me around. Plus I hate being cranky. I don't think someone with narcolepsy would be cranky that you woke them up.

I've always thought migraines were a dibilitating headache that causes you to not want to leave your room and turn out the lights all day. If someone is at work, I don't think they have a migraine. Not unless they have a very high pain threshold. My mom used to get migraines. Thankfully, I've never had one.

I do, however, have a mild cold right now. I say mild because I actually went to work today. I don't really like when someone is sick and comes in to work, but my last paycheck was little and I want the next one to be a little bigger. Also, I really hate calling in sick to work. The first time you call in they say, "Okay, get well soon." The second time you call in they seem to think you're lying and say stuff like, "Well, did you go to the doctor?" I don't run to the doctor every time I have a little sniffle. If it lasts over a week, I will probably go, but until then I self-medicate (cough syrup, echinacea, and vitamin C) and try to wait it out.
