Yesterday, Gia got a phone call from her sister, A. It seems that their mother and other sister, J, had taken Matilda the Cat to the veterinarian and, well . . . they are now a family of ex cat owners. (A frowney emiticon does not adequately cover Gia's emotions.)

Gia, I'm so sorry you weren't given the chance to say Goodbye. When I went off to college, I almost didn't go because I didn't want to leave my cat behind at my parents' house. She was born in my house when I was 5 and I lost her during college when I was 19. Non cat owners don't understand how devastating the loss can be. Writing in 3rd person shows your pain. I'm so sorry.
